Congratulations go out to our very own Grand Knight Steven Guillotte for winning the 2010 St. Anthony award. Steven is truly one very hard-working man, very giving of his time for the parish and related activities. Although Steven is very modest, he is a very deserving recipient and is a positive role model for all young men of the parish. Thank you again for all you do Steven and congratulations!

On Saturday December 12th your Parish Knights of Columbus Council participated in the Wreaths Across America ceremony held at National Cemetery in Bourne Massachusetts. All told more than 2400 wreaths were placed on veterans graves this day. The delegation from Knights of Columbus Council #14557 personally placed wreaths and said a prayer at each grave for which we received a donation. It was a truly moving experience for all those involved. We wish to thank all those parishioners and friends who purchased a wreath this year. If you did not participate in this year's Wreaths Across America effort, please consider doing so next year. Is a truly beautiful way to remember and honor a friend or relative who served our country during the Christmas season If you wish to see photos of the ceremony and wreath placements, please click here.

Keeping Abortion-funding out of health care reform |
|

The massive response of Catholics last month to members of the House of Representatives, the Stupak amendment was passed that prevented any of our tax dollars going to pay for children to be killed in the womb. Killing innocent children is not health care. Now the debate has moved to the Senate and it’s important for us to act again because Democratic leader Harry Reid in the Senate version of the bill has tried to restore your money going for other people’s abortions. The U.S. Bishops have asked you to act once again. Please call, email or fax Senator Kerry’s and Senator Kirk’s offices with a message similar to the following: “Please adopt the House-approved Stupak Amendment that upholds longstanding policies against abortion funding, and please protect conscience rights in health care.” Senator Kerry’s phone is 508.677.0522, his fax 508.677.0275, and his web-accessible email address is kerry.senate.gov/contact/email.cfm. Senator Kirk’s phone is 877.472.9014, his fax 202.224.2417 and his email kirk.senate.gov/contact. Please make your contact as soon as you can this week. |
